The Wivey Kitchen team are launching their new community Pantry this October 2024!
The aim is to make surplus, good quality, fresh, chilled and non-perishable food, that would otherwise have gone to waste, available to members for minimum cost.
Wivey Kitchen receives fresh, chilled and non-perishable food products from Fareshare South West as well as other local growers and suppliers. The food is ‘surplus’ due to a seasonal glut or change in branding for example.
The Pantry itself will be based based in the School Rooms at St. Andrew’s Church, Wiveliscombe, and will be operated by our friendly volunteers who will be on hand to provide help and cooking advice.
The Pantry will be a membership scheme in which members pay a low monthly fee and collect their allocated food once per week. For a £5 fee members can expect to take home around £20 worth of food each week. Anyone who lives in the Ten Parishes area and would particularly benefit from very affordable food at this time can apply to join.
